Geometry-Dependent Thermal Reduction of Graphene Oxide Solid

Graphene oxide (GO) sheets have been used as a building block to construct various bulk forms of graphene structures such films, fibers, foams, and dense solids. Thermal reduction GO, where GO actually undergoes disproportionation reaction yield reduced (r-GO), accompanied by evolution carbonaceous gases, has critical influence over the mechanical, thermal, electrical properties chemical stability resulting Here, we report that this thermal process is geometry-dependent for solids, including peak temperature reaction, rate, composition released C/O ratio r-GO products, which can be largely attributed additional reactions between trapped intermediates. The work enriches knowledge base materials offers insights further tuning solids obtain high performance engineering materials.
